Ellie's Hives

Mommy wanted to fill you all in on my hives situation... (and thanks to all of you who wished me "get wells" and "nubbily wiggles").

Mommy isn't sure how I got the nasty little hives but she felt really bad about it... I got lots of treats and extra play time at the park on Wednesday.

Mommy thinks I either got the hives from a couple bug bites I got Monday night or from some "pet friendly" cleaner she used where I pee peed on her carpet. She returned the cleaner and now lathers me with both sunscreen and bugspray before we play outside. Geez louise! I definitely never smell like a puppy!!!

Getting lathered up with sunscreen is a lot better than getting baths everyday! Does your mom use a special dog sunscreen or just plain old human sunscreen?

Mommy uses coppertone for babies so that it won't irritate my sensitive skin.

I'm glad the hives went away so fast. That must have been scary.

Hmmm ... we never thought about sunburn. But we do have lots of red hair so maybe we don't sunburn very easily.
You look like a puppy so it is probably ok that you don't always smell like a puppy.
We like your loufah toy; we have the same one in all colors ... but they don't squeak anymore.

Raisa,

We should definitely be friends. A puppy can never have too many friends!

Hi

My name is Teddy, when I was around 9 months old I got really bad hives. So bad I looked like a sharpei dog with my face completely swollen you could hardly see my eyes. I had hives all over my body, big like golf balls. My mommy and daddy figured out that I was likely stung by a bee at the park, daddy remembers me flinching my foot one time but didn't think anything of it at the time. The neighbours up stairs gave me some yummy bubble gum flavoured kids Benalyn or some type of allergy stuff. It worked great! Now mommy always has allergy stuff on hand (that the vet gave her). Watch out for those bees and keep some meds in your first aid kit.
